WHAT IS “THE JOURNEY?”
Say goodbye to the standard stewardship campaign, where we listen to Sunday sermons about financial giving for weeks and turn in a pledge card at the end.
Instead, let’s go on a journey together.
“The Journey” is a six-year cycle in which we will focus each year on a different aspect of our membership vow: prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Our Journey started mid-January 2019, as we kicked off a six-week church-wide study and sermon series that gave an overview of all these elements of the vow, using the book “Treasures of the Transformed Life,” by Dr. John Ed Mathison.
In 2020, we’re utilizing “The Workbook of Living Prayer” by Maxie Dunnam for a January/February sermon series and churchwide study focused on prayer. We’re diving deeper to explore together this facet of what it means to be a Christian.
On February 23, 2020 we’ll conclude the series with a Celebration Sunday featuring one combined service at 11:00, followed by a churchwide luncheon. Both were well-attended last year and our church family enjoyed a day filled with energy, joy, and the Holy Spirit!
This six-year Journey enables us to move toward a more fulfilling and joyful relationship with God, and greater unity as a church family. You’re invited to be a part!
