WHAT IS “THE JOURNEY?”
Say goodbye to the standard stewardship campaign, where we listen to Sunday sermons about financial giving for weeks and turn in a pledge card at the end.
Instead, let’s go on a journey together.
“The Journey” is a six-year cycle in which we will focus each year on a different aspect of our membership vow: prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Starting in mid-January 2019, we’ll begin with a six-week church-wide study that will give an overview of all these elements of the vow, using the book Treasures of the Transformed Life, by Dr. John Ed Mathison.
Books are available at no cost beginning December 30. Starting the week of January 14, adult small groups will begin study of the book, and we’ll explore the first in the sermon series on January 20. Follow along each week as we learn more about the significance of each aspect of our vow. The reading is easy but thought-provoking, and the questions are engaging.
On February 24, we’ll conclude the series with a Celebration Sunday featuring one combined service at 10:30 AM, and a churchwide luncheon to follow.
Please plan now to join us on this Journey toward a more fulfilling and joyful relationship with God, and greater unity as a church family.
If you’re not already part of a small group, but would like to be in order to dive deeper into what you’ll hear on Sunday mornings during the series, contact Julia Murray at [email protected] to learn how you can plug in. Groups are only scheduled to meet for the length of the series: 6 weeks.
